My compliments: your brief statement was one of the most intelligent comments on
the subject of Guantanamo Bay to appear in any newspaper in two years.

But let me add that the Bush administration is doing much more than making an
"attempt to evade U.S. laws" -- these policies are in fact direct violations of
18 USC 2441, the War Crimes Act of 1996, as amended by the Expanded War Crimes
Act of  1997, which makes it a federal offense to commit ANY grave breach of the
Geneva Conventions.

It is too late for the Bush administration here: what is needed is an
independent counsel to indict and convict them for their war crimes.
